Southampton climbed into the Championship play-off places with a 1-0 victory over Norwich City at St Mary's, moving above Wrexham into sixth on goal difference. Finn Azaz's 10th goal of the season settled a tense contest and ended Norwich's four-match winning streak.
The scoreline, however, only told part of the story. Daniel Peretz was central to Southampton's success, producing a season-best seven saves and a series of second-half interventions as Norwich surged forward, while Saints extended their unbeaten run in league and cup to 13 matches.
A quick throw and a sharp finish break the stalemate
The opening was cagey, but both goalkeepers were called upon before the breakthrough arrived. Peretz got down smartly to his right to keep out Anis Ben Slimane's thumping effort, and Vladan Kovacevic responded at the other end by parrying away James Bree's sweetly-struck half-volley.
