Atletico Madrid reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2016/17 after surviving a thrilling Barcelona fightback at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, losing the second leg 2-1 but holding on to win the tie 3-2 on aggregate.
Diego Simeone's side took a two-goal lead into the night but saw it wiped out inside 25 minutes, before Ademola Lookman's decisive strike restored their aggregate advantage and a late Eric Garcia red card helped the hosts ride out a frantic finish.
Barcelona's blistering start
Lamine Yamal had been on the pitch for just 35 seconds when he drove through the middle and forced Juan Musso into a low fingertip save. Within four minutes the teenager had the opener, sliding the ball under Musso after he and Ferran Torres hunted down a loose touch from former Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet.
