Arsenal came from a goal down to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates on 6 September, Kai Havertz equalising in the 24th minute and Martin Ødegaard scoring the winner in the 49th. The result gave the champions three wins from three in the Premier League and sent Chelsea to their first defeat under Xabi Alonso.
Morgan Rogers had put the visitors ahead after 77 seconds, the first goal Arsenal had conceded this season. Arsenal pursued the forward for much of the summer before Chelsea paid £117m for him, and the home supporters made sure he knew it.
Arsenal had not lost to Chelsea in any of their previous 10 competitive meetings, winning seven, and Chelsea had lost their last four league visits to the Emirates, conceding 11 goals. They were a far sterner test this time, but their defensive problems resurfaced and they have now conceded seven goals in three league games.
