Ararat-Armenia 1-4 Sparta Prague: Guddal's early double sets up a comfortable opening win

Sparta Prague began their Europa League campaign with a 4-1 win over Ararat-Armenia at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium on matchday one.

Guddal scored in the 19th and 21st minutes to put Sparta two clear inside the first half-hour. Mercado made it three in the 52nd minute, and although Bruno Wilson pulled one back for the hosts in the 54th, Vydra, on as a substitute ten minutes earlier, restored the three-goal margin in the 70th.

Sparta had 23 shots to Ararat-Armenia's 13, eight of them on target to the hosts' two, and 59% of possession. They won 13 corners to the hosts' two.

Ararat-Armenia were shown three yellow cards, to Serobyan in the 55th minute, Grigoryan in the 87th and Muradyan in the 90th; Sparta were not booked.
