Afolayan double ends Blackburn's winless run: Rovers beat Millwall 3-1

· Match Report

Dapo Afolayan scored twice as Blackburn Rovers beat Millwall 3-1 at Ewood Park on 12 September, ending a run of four Championship games without a win. Afolayan struck in the 40th and 57th minutes either side of a Lyndon Dykes penalty, and substitute Andri Gudjohnsen made the points safe with a counter-attacking goal in the 92nd minute.

It was Blackburn's fourth successive win over Millwall, a sequence that began in April 2025, while Millwall lost for the third time in four league games. Blackburn had 45% of the possession and were shown five yellow cards to Millwall's three.

Afolayan, who turned 29 the day before, gave a discontented home crowd something to cheer. Chants of "Venky's out" were audible before kick-off.
