AFC Wimbledon beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 at the Cherry Red Records Stadium in matchday three of the League One season, Myles Hippolyte scoring the only goal.
Hippolyte struck in the 87th minute to settle it. Seven yellow cards were shown and no player was sent off: Wigan's Jon Mellish (24th), Jensen Weir (47th) and James Carragher (64th) were booked for fouls, before Wimbledon's Steven Sessegnon (72nd), Ollie Harrison (74th) and Alistair Smith (76th) picked up cautions of their own, also for fouls, and Steve Seddon (95th) was shown a yellow for time-wasting.
Wigan made an early change, sending on Archie Harris for the injured Akeel Higgins in the 11th minute, then used Luke Harris, K'Marni Miller and Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen for Sonny Perkins, Connor Barrett and Finley Burns after the break. Wimbledon made five changes: Junior Nkeng and Ollie Harrison replaced James Tilley and Zack Nelson in the 66th minute, Steven Sessegnon and Donnell McNeilly came on for Ryan Johnson and Aron Sasu a minute later, and Andy Yiadom replaced Isaac Ogundere in the 85th.
The result lifts Wimbledon to 14th in the League One table on four points from three matches, with one win, one draw and one defeat. Wigan remain without a point after three games, bottom of the division on goal difference.
